Job Summary:
The Preschool Instructional Coach provides professional development and support to preschool teachers, helping them implement effective teaching practices and curriculum. The coach works collaboratively with educators to enhance instructional quality, strengthen classroom management, and improve student outcomes. The Preschool Intervention Referral Specialist assesses, identifies, and coordinates services for preschool children requiring additional support. The specialist works with families, teachers, and external providers to ensure children receive necessary interventions to enhance their developmental and learning progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop personalized improvement plans.
- Conduct workshops, training sessions, and model teaching techniques.
- Help educators implement curriculum standards and evidence-based practices.
- Analyze student data to identify instructional needs and improve outcomes.
- Encourage a positive, inclusive learning environment and promote equity.
- Maintain records of coaching sessions, observations, and teacher progress.
- Stay updated on early childhood education research and best practices.
- Conduct screenings and assessments to identify children needing intervention.
- Coordinate with teachers, families, and other professionals to develop intervention plans.
- Make referrals to external specialists, therapists, and support services.
- Track and document each child’s progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Act as a liaison between families, school staff, and community resources.
- Educate families and teachers on intervention strategies and resources.
- Maintain confidential records and adhere to ethical and legal guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education
- Experience in early childhood assessment, referral processes, or intervention support.
- Several years of teaching experience, preferably in preschool or early childhood settings.
- Strong communication, organizational, coaching, advocacy and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of child development, early intervention practices and early learning standards.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse educators and adapt to various teaching styles.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse families and support staff.
