Mathematics
The instructional goal of the Southampton math curriculum is to promote an understanding of mathematical concepts to allow students to apply their skills and knowledge. The curriculum focuses on daily problem-based interactive math learning followed by visual learning strategies to deepen conceptual understanding by making meaningful connections for students and delivering strong, sequential visual/verbal connections through every lesson. Ongoing diagnosis and intervention and daily differentiation ensure that every student is given the opportunity to succeed.
Our main mathematics program is Into Math by Houghton Mifflin. In addition, we use several online programs to supplement and enhance student learning. IXL is used across all grade bands and provides interactive math problems aligned to NJSLS-Math.
